Yesterday I was fine to volunteer for the morning shift and food distribution, starting at 5. When the alarm went off I wasn’t as eager as the day before. It was a beautiful morning though.

Quickly dressed and set off to the food tent. We started about 10 minutes late and it went rather smoothly. Still, some problems with dietary requirements but stuff is at least happening, maybe they will have fixed it by the end.

We hung around the office taking it slow because it got warm pretty early. I and Connor got assigned to build a bunch of bridges across the ditches that the diggers created a few days ago. Apparently, they are a hazard. We’re using the green pallets as bridges but lowering them down in the sand a bit to prevent stumbling accidents. Rather hard work in the sun and heat.

At 13 Jonas came by and we left for the food houses for some lunch. We took the shuttle bus and timed the first one perfectly. However, the bus got full just before we were about to step on. Unfortunately, it took another 35 minutes for the next one to arrive.

We got the Swedish food house and got ourselves some meatballs and mashed potatoes. We spoke with three kids from Belgium, quite an interesting conversation. Ran by Freyjas booth as well as Sandro today again. We got back on the bus, it was more of them on the way back so we didn’t have to wait as long.

When I got back I took a nap in our resting tent. Quite nice in the tent beds until the sun reached my legs 😛 Headed down for some dinner and run into a bunch of different Swedes. It’s nice to check in, see how they are doing. My plan was all day to do some laundry but I managed to push it until it got dark. Went through all my dirty clothes and they won’t look new, or smell new but hopefully feel a bit fresh at least.

At about 22:30 someone posted a link on the Swedish Discord from the BBC, stating that the UK contingent is leaving the Jamboree. What it means is that all participants, their leaders, and the ISTs are leaving tomorrow and Sunday. In our Subcamp team, we have five British ISTs that have to leave, they got no choice. They are devastated and so are we.

  1. In the Swedish Television’s news “Rapport”, the heat and sanitary problems at WSJ was one of the main news items. Keep up your good work!

    1. Oh, I’ll have to look at that. Thanks for the cheering!
