We took the morning off and left the hotel at around 11:15 to have breakfast at our favorite place (the third time now) just across the street. When we were about to leave the rain started pouring. We went to look for another way down to the subway, on our side of the street. We found one but it was another station and line, so we had to make a transfer. Not a problem though because the subway, like in Seoul, has great signage and walkways. More escalators here.

We arrived at the Marina Bay Sands to go up to the Observation deck. To our disappointment, it was closed due to lightning. We hung around for a while but gave up and headed towards the ION Orchard Mall instead.

Found a Uniqlo store where we both found some stuff we wanted. Unfortunately, they only kept my sizes online, and I didn’t think it was enough time to get stuff delivered in under 24 hours, especially when half of that was a weekend. Anyhow, found a couple of T-shirts that I can bring home. We found some Japanese food for lunch.

In the mall, we found a bunch of escalators that actually turned. Like a curve. I’ve seen some go up and down (like a wave), but never a curve. Cool!

We headed back to the hotel where resting and maybe packing was on the schedule. I called my Mum and talked for a bit and then my brother Peter called just when I hung up. Nice to check in, stating that I’m still alive and to see how life is progressing in Sweden.

At 19:45 we left the hotel again to visit this Singapore Night Festival. It was just around the corner from where we were staying and we had passed by the area a couple of times while they were rigging so it was easily found 🙂

The main area contained a tent with a stage and a larger tent with a bunch of food stands. The two ladies on stage were very enthusiastic and kept the crowd going while we went looking for some dinner. We ended up ordering Yakuniku Ribeye Beef Cubes with some fries.

We left this area and moved into Fort Canning Park where we were yesterday. They had some of the trails amazingly lit and a couple of problem-solving stations along the way to the top, where the final station was, choose between chocolate or vanilla ice cream.

We went back down again and found another stage where a band was playing. Tough crowd, the singer did what he could to get some cheering. I don’t really “know” music but they were decent 🙂 We moved along and were invited into the Children’s Museum Singapore. Let’s just say we weren’t really the target audience.

We felt a bit done with the festival and according to the map there wasn’t much more to see so we headed back to the hotel. On our way, we passed the main area again and just as we walked by the SMU Samba Masala entered the stage, and boy did they like their drums. They kept on for quite some time, and this is just a sample.

After their performance, we went back to the hotel and said good night. Tomorrow Jonas is flying home and I’m moving on to Jakarta, Indonesia. We need to be checked out by 11.
