Early morning (alarm at 6) for a taxi to another airport, Don Muang, and the flight south. The booked van for 12 people had only 9 passenger seats. We managed to squeeze in with Kasper on a box, going backward. Safety first!

Breakfast at the airport and some waiting (good with margins!). The flight was roughly 30 minutes delayed but we finally took off and landed eventually at Nakhon So Thammarat. Going online again we read the reports of a fantastic midsummer’s eve in Sweden. It seems we timed the trip perfectly.

Another bus ride towards the coast. This time in an identical vehicle but two of them so we all got a seat and belt. Watching the countryside passing by is a slightly different experience than the traffic in Bangkok.

We waited for the high-speed catamaran for about one and a half hours, the first time really felt the hot weather while drinking water (and beer) and playing Yatzy.

The boat trip took two and a half hours and was quite uneventful. Just drinking a lot of water, and enjoying the breeze and a couple fell asleep in the VIP area, an AC-controlled room for 100 TBH.

Upon arrival at Koh-Phangan, we took a taxi that almost could fit all 12 of us. The bags were on the roof and after a short five-minute drive we arrived at Coco Garden. I’ve never been to such a place and there are probably a ton of these all over the world but boy it was nice! Bungalows close to the beach, a small cozy bar with a nice bartender and very nice staff. I’m glad we’re staying here for seven days. Just need to get used to the heat (sorry all Swedes who seem to have a traditional midsummer with rain and low temperatures).

We unpacked in the bungalows, dipped our toes in the water (never had a bath in this temperature unless it was my own bathtub), ate some dinner, and went to the local 7-eleven (like 200 meters away) for some basic supplies, and then just hung out in the bar. One shot to celebrate midsummer started the “evening” and then we just kept enjoying the environment and the company, both our own and the other guests.

It’s nice that the first two days of travel are over so we can settle in, relax, and just have a vacation. We’ll see what tomorrow has planned for us.
