Today was all about sports. I got up at nine, had breakfast, and then went to Sixt again to collect the car. I was asked if I wanted the flat rate for tolls ($13) but I expected to manage it to Fort Lauderdale without passing any tolls, Google Maps has that option, so I declined. When I booked the car I got the tip that if I went through one anyway, I would ask for the flat rate before I handed in the keys.

Started off north on Miami Beach to get over to the mainland via another bridge than usual, I expect to avoid the tolls. Stopped by a Walmart supercenter just to see it and check if they had a Google Pixel 6 Pro in stock. They didn’t, but they had a plastic box in the right dimensions so I could buy a specific souvenir to bring home.

The target was Slackers Bar & Grill in Fort Lauderdale and upon arrival, I found a Mcdonald’s that had free wifi which I could reach from the parking lot. This was important since IK Sirius hosted AIK at 11:30 and I wanted to see that game. I bought ice cream and a soda to justify my streaming for almost two hours over their wifi 🙂 Sirius took the lead and everything was great, but AIK equalized and pushed hard for a victory goal so, in the end, a tie felt good.

When the game was over I entered Slackers and found myself a table with a good view of a large TV. The early Sunday games were on and they had played about one quarter. Since it was a bit chaotic with people talking, and sound from one game (not from one of the TVs I was looking at), I took the opportunity to go through today’s F1 race on my phone while eating a hamburger. Done just about in time for the game between my Packers and the visiting Patriots, the team Tom Brady made his career with, the quarterback I saw Packers defeat last Sunday.

An exciting game that went into overtime. Didn’t get any “guests” at my table, but chatted a bit with people “next over”. One woman was really nervous because she didn’t trust the kicker Crosby since he had a very rough season last year. So when it all came down to him kicking a 31-yard field goal for the win, she crossed her fingers, arms, and toes to help him. And it succeeded! #GoPackGo!

Jumped back into the car and drove towards Miami and Miami beach. There were a lot of signs about tolls along the road that was a bit hard to understand, and I passed a couple of stations, but I think they were just for some sort of express lanes that you could use. So hopefully I didn’t trigger any tolls as I followed the instructions from Google Maps. Parked at the Sixt office and walked back to the hotel.

Sitting in the room, watching Buccaneers – Chiefs and writing this blog post. Soon I’ll pack up all my stuff. Tomorrow it’s time to fly back home. The travel plans are like this:
* Miami – > Warsaw, take off 19:40 (01:40 Tuesday, Swedish time), landing 12:00, flight nr LO 030
* Warsaw -> Stockholm, take off 18:30, landing 20:15, flight nr SK 2604.

Thinking of going into Warsaw for a quick bite between the flights, we’ll see.
