Since I’m going through clothes rather rapidly in the humid heat and there are laundry machines with free detergent at the hotel, we decided to do a round of laundry this morning. We got down to the second floor, started the machines, and then went out to the Paris Baguette café again for breakfast. When we got back it was time for the dryer. While loading the dryers a Colombian woman came in and we started talking. It turned out she was here attending a math competition. She asked about the scouts and the camp and it’s fun to be reminded of what a great event a World Scout Jamboree is. Both from an organizational and logistical point of view, but more important, cultural and equality perspective.

Since the dryers should only take about 45 minutes so we went back to our rooms and waited. When the laundry was dry I still felt rather tired so I decided to stay in my room while Jonas went out to visit another museum. I spent a few hours sleeping and just catching up on the Internet.

Last night I also took time to go down to the reception and complain about the heat in my room. The lowest temperature I can set the AC unit to is 18 degrees C and when it feels it has reached that, it stops. The problem is that I don’t agree with the temperature that the AC said it is since the thermometer I brought says it’s about 27 degrees in the room (on the bed and on the desk). I don’t think she really understood what I meant (I wanted to bypass the “stop command”) but she offered me a fan and that helped. She also asked if one was enough and yes, it was definitely enough 🙂

When I got some more energy I packed most of my stuff in my bags again. I managed (not sure how) to consolidate from four to three bags, which should make the travel tomorrow easier, even though it’s the same weight (probably more because of a couple of souvenirs). Around five I went out to find something to eat while waiting for Jonas to get back. Took the time to call and check in with Mom at home, telling her I’m still alive and catching the latest news from home.

I went back to the 12-story Daiso store to get a bag for small items. There I bumped into Maja and Freyja again from yesterday. They now wore their scarfs, so I guess I had a positive impact 🙂 Walked around a bit in Myeongdong and then back to the hotel to meet up with Jonas.

We walked down to Myeongdong (this seems to be the place where everything happens in the evening) looking for some dinner. We kept bumping into scouts from several different countries. We found a place on the second floor only serving to take away so we grabbed some and went looking for somewhere to sit. That turned out to be problematic, nowhere there were any benches to be found. We ended up walking back to our hotel, hoping to be able to sit on the roof. But unfortunately, the elevator wouldn’t let us go up there, so we landed in the small dining area next to the lobby on the first floor. Not the most gracious last supper in Seoul, but the food was good! 🙂

The food came in different containers so you got to mix it by yourself.
I guess it was to keep the different ingredients from getting soggy from the sauces.

A rather early evening to be able to get up early tomorrow. The train for Iksan leaves at 10:32 and we need to pack the rest and get to the station. Time for the next (although short) chapter on this trip.
